NEXT KITCHEN EXPEDITION in 2018!

The Elmhurst Junior Women's Club will be be hosting the 14th Elmhurst Kitchen Expedition in the Spring 2018.

This "first floor only" house-walk with a culinary twist featured six fabulous Elmhurst kitchens, with a focus on their outstanding kitchens. Kitchens and/or dining areas were accented for the day by local florists and home decor retailers.

The Elmhurst Kitchen Expedition has become a source of inspiration and information to those renovating and rehabbing older homes as well as those building new. The 2016 event benefitted the Annie Legere Foundation To the Moon and Back (http://www.amazingannie.org/).

HOMES

The 2016 Elmhurst Kitchen Expedition showcased six fabulous kitchens ranging in size, style and layout.

The homes and kitchens, already spectacular on their own, are decorated by talented experts for this event, making it the perfect place to see what is new and different -- not only in kitchen design but also decorating, floral design and home accent trends.

Beneficiaries are the reason behind the event. We are pleased to be assisting deserving charities in their efforts at bettering the lives of our neighbors within our community. Our 2016 beneficiary, the Annie Legere Foundation To the Moon and Back, serves an import role in our community. Their goals are to:

1) Promote allergy awareness and research.

2) Educate parents and children on the symptoms of allergic reactions and what to do when they occur.

3) Work with the community to make it mandatory for “first responders” and schools to carry and stock epinephrine auto-injectors.

4) Support training of first responders and school staff in the use of epinephrine auto-injectors

With severe anaphylactic allergies, it is crucial that injection of epinephrine be administered at the first onset of symptoms. Worldwide an estimated 2% of the population has experienced anaphylaxis at some point in life and rates appear to be increasing. Epinephrine auto-injectors such as EpiPen may be kept on hand for self-injection by a person with a history of severe allergic reaction. Our goal is to prevent this tragedy from happening to another family.  Had an EpiPen been more readily available, Annie may have survived.

SPONSORS

Our 2016 Event Sponsor was Dan Wangler Builders who graciously invited event attendees to an open house at the showroom the day of the walk.
